Our collaboration with Agrilinks continued in February with two online, interactive sessions of the pedagogy and curriculum in agriculture education and training (AET) series. These two events featured agriculture professionals that specialize in international agricultural education and training. See the full discussions on the Agrilinks site via the following links:

  • Ask Ag About… Interactions between Agricultural Education and Extension: This one-hour online chat, hosted on February 10, featured a panel of agricultural education and extension experts fielding questions and comments from the general public regarding the critical linkage between education and extension in agriculture. The panelists included:
    • Ntam Baharanyi,  Agricultural Economics and Assistant Extension Administrator at Tuskegee University.
    • Gary Briers, Texas A&M’s Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications and Senior Scientist at the Norman E. Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture
    • Hlami Ngwenya,  Global Forum Rural Advisory Service (GFRAS) and Senior Lecturer at the University of Free State.
    • Grady Roberts, Executive Director for the Global Education Lab at the University of Florida
    • Rick Rudd, Head of the Department of Agricultural, Leadership and Community Education at Virginia Tech.
  • Building Linkages in Agricultural Education and Training through Systems Thinking: This seminar, hosted online and in person on February 17,  helped define AET as a system and demonstrated for professionals how to integrate the five AET linkages into practice, with special considerations for youth, gender and the workplace. The webinar presenters included:
    • Dr. Clara Cohen, Bureau for Food Security/ USAID
    • Dr. T. Grady Roberts, University of Florida
    • Dr. Wayne Ganpat, University of West Indies
    • Mr. Seth Heinert, Indigenous Education Foundation of Tanzania
